Is there a way of testing two points to see if they can communicate with each other before I go to the trouble of wiring to a rj45 endpoint?
I'm not convinced socket A can talk to socket B when, for example, socket B is in an extension, or... or...
Short two wires on one end, go to the other end with a multimeter and test for continuity between those two wires on your lowest resistance range. If it is infinity then no connection. If it is some low number then there is a connection
