This reminds me of the anti reading list, for books that you'd like to say you've read.

The charitable perspective is that if everyone in your circle likes a thing, you might be missing an opportunity to enjoy something Objectively Great. That's why you force yourself to try stuff.

On the other hand, you have to learn to give up 100 pages into a book that everyone loves, and sometimes admit that you just don't get a movie.
