GitHub has been sending me an email every two seconds.
On a GitHub repo that I was watching, some Chinese spammers created 60,000 issues.
The result seems to be a queue of 60,000 emails, steadily hitting my inbox for two days straight.
No amount of settings changes on GitHub makes a difference.
Nice work GitHub!
No idea what is happening, but ... What is the time recorded in the headers of the email?
In 2020 we had a weird Moodle server swap in the university. The server was sending confirmation emails when the users asked for it, but Yahoo! accepted only a few per day. So most messages were stored in the intermediate email server until the 5 days time to live expired.

I unwatched the repo yesterday, but that has had no effect. Also changed my notifications email, also no effect.
I have the emails going straight to trash.
35k emails so far, deleted about 10k yesterday.
My inbox is functional so it’s not a big deal, but it’s surprising this activity is not caught by a spam filter or something.
~45k emails (so far) to one email? Totally normal human activity according to GitHub.
