I see comments like this all over hackernews but the truth is you actually don't care. You have a choice to not use HN/Reddit/YouTube/whatever but here you are.
The future is bleak if you are attempting to cross borders with a forged or stolen passport. Nobody else is adversely affected by this.
There are many reasons not to want authoritarian governments tracking your every movement other than you having stolen or forged a passport.
you might not want to look into what governments do with your phones triangulation data :D

That's a failure of imagination on your part. I don't agree that governments should have this kind of information about us in order to cross borders.
You really put a lot of trust in countries that are rules by oligarchs and where a far-right is rising to power...
