I've heard of Fully Automated Luxury Communism as an alternative economic model.

The idea is machines do most work and humans don't work unless they actually want to. Supposedly everyone lives luxury lives of abundance with lots of free time.

I'd only accept something like that if the people actually retained control at all levels, not the government.
