he redirected the domain darkhours.io to darkhours.app. seems pretty fair

Until 1st August 2027 when the domain will expire (I doubt Terry will keep paying for the domain) leaving those users who memorised the .io version stranded.
You'll note they only redirected it, they didn't offer to transfer the domain.
And they're using a temporary redirect (HTTP 302) so browsers won't automatically redirect users when this happens.
