I would probably get a Harley Benton JA or MS and do any necessary work.
But then I'm a weirdo; the only guitars that really float my boat the moment are the Duesenberg lap steels and that Eastwood fretless cello guitar...
The new Harley Benton Jazzmaster-style is crazy good and the distressed/relic looks amazing IMO.
They make really good instruments. I don't really play ordinary electric guitar anymore — I'll never be good enough at it whereas I am a good lap steel player — but if I wanted a guitar for a bit of recording I would not really hesitate.
The original Harley Benton/ABM Slider lap steel was outstanding and I was stupid not to get one.
