Capital punishment should be reserved exclusively for, and as the only, punishment for public corruption and abuse of power.
What's the argument for that? That seems rather arbitrary.
Because our civilization relies on governance and corrupt and degraded government can fail and collapse countries and even civilizations, leading to immeasurable levels of harm to all of humanity.
It is a form of mass scale murder once you add up all the collective harm.
But is that the only way to produce harm of that scale?
