Perhaps the general pattern you see is not a "fundamental difference"? Could it be that you are also falling prey to the "all you see is all there is" cognitive bias?
Sure, there's a trivial sense in which that's always true whenever someone makes any sort of remark about the world. There's always a sense in which there could be factors that I'm not accounting for.
