I remember this! Its crazy because the comments section on that thread seems more curious about the setup (with albiet one long thread about home costs). Massive contrast to this one.

It's because this latest thread was posted while I was asleep. :/
HN is a massively nicer place if the author is present to interact. The people who are inclined to criticize don't want to do it to people's face, and the people who want to act questions are more eager if someone is there to answer.
Yeah.. 2 years have unfortunately changed a lot of what privilege, ownership, wealth, and "luck" have meant.
