After watching some reviews of the Duo, I'm convinced that Steve Jobs would have never let the inner panel be matte while the outer panel was glossy. It's too inconsistent and inelegant.

it's intentional to hide the crease
Yeah but then make everything matte. No?
Why? Only the side with the crease needs to be matte in order to have the intended effect
