We have seen this before in physical design. Complexity used to be expensive, it would take someone hours hand carving or embroidering designs to produce. Then we industrialized production and a machine could stamp a design in to metal, stamp complex painted designs instantly. Suddenly complexity was cheap and everything moved to minimalism.
