too often, the 'details' are used as a justification or reason for sloppiness or neglect.

i use this in my life as well: if sth went wrong, I don't care why or how, just as long as I put my finger on the possibility of this thing never happening again.

Now, you can't do that without considering some details, but one can also get lost in the trees and miss the forest. The key point is identify the culprit responsible, leave all the tangentials alone.
