what really strikes me is the almost complete lack of reference to the pandemic in fiction (books and movies)
I believe many people, esp. higher up, are kind of embarrassed of what they did in the pandemic (like treat others like subhumans) and don't want anybody to dig deeper or hold them accountable.
In Germany it seems to be very actively maintained that the past is past and no we don't want to dig into what happened in 20-22.
