Oh - this had me in stitches.

Juxtaposing "law enforcement" and "Joe Average" in that way is entertaining for Australians, as "Joe Average" is literally one of the entry requirements for law enforcement.

"Academic Eligibility Year 12 HSC (minimum ATAR 50 or equivalent)"

"ATAR 50" is Australian for "of your high school cohort, half of them did better than you."

Do they prevent people from being cops if they’re too smart in Aus similar to the US?

  • It's a minimum of academically average, but no worse.
