Does anyone else force their Apple TV into 1080p mode because they don’t like soap opera mode? I hope this unit lets me do that. I have no need to upgrade but eventually my current Apple TV will die and I’d hate to lose the ability to downgrade.
You are doing something wrong.
Resolution has nothing to do with dejudder and what have you: these are TV settings.
You should however have match framerate and hdr modes to content in apple tv settings on (unless you have a really old TV).
Nope. I turned them off. I had to turn down to 1080p.
This is not the way
Needing to force Apple TV into 1080p is something wrong with your tv and not apple tv.
Match Dynamic Range and Match Frame Rate covers it and it had nothing to do with resolution in the first place, so that must be something specific to your TV
Change this on your TV. Look for turning off motion smoothing, or better, see if you have a filmmaker mode.
That does not fix it. Trust me. I’ve been through this dance on several tvs. You have to drop to 1080p.
Do you you have match frame rate on? Having that off will cause problems as the ATV has to try and interpolate your 24hz content to 30hz, in order to match your (likely) 60hz display.
