Everything? No, but governments do have the monopoly on violence. As long as that is true, they bare the primary responsibility of security.

So where’s the line drawn? How much should taxpayers be primarily responsible for if a private company doesn’t meet established security standards?

The comments in this thread you’ve joined seem to imply a private company should be held to no standards, and that this specific company’s security should primarily be the responsibility of other taxpayers.

  • Are you paying for an armed guard at your home? Why not?

    • Why would I?

I’m not subject to NIS2 or CRE standards, unlike the willing operator of this facility.

I still have a gun and cameras, because I’m not a welfare queen dependent on the government to do every single thing for me. With the billions of taxpayer dollars SpaceX has, maybe they should invest in some security.
