I think it's just the blog version of gish gallop. They just say a bunch of stuff that sounds smart to people who don't have much knowledge in certain areas, so much that it'll take too much effort to rebut, in hopes that you stop thinking about it and just accept their arguments. I only just heard of that Eliezer Yudkowsky guy the other day, and when I looked him up I stumbled upon a reddit thread where he makes a fool of himself talking about probabilities. Also I think the name "Rationalist" is kinda funny. Reminds me of that Antifa meme, "we're the anti bad guy squad, and our opponents are the bad guys! Everything we do is justified because we fight bad guys obviously!" Except these guys are the Rationalists. Everything they do is rational, and if you don't agree with them, then you're irrational obviously.
