My point is that being at war with your neighbor(s) is not a unique situation, but only Israel has acquired such an extreme abuse-through-tech slant because of it. Why?

My guess (not any more informed than anyone else's) is that it's because they absolutely need US support, and intelligence is one of the few things they could offer them so they invested _a lot_ into it
