Sounds like his family is in a pickle if he’s out of town and the server goes down.

Sounds like his family is in a pickle if he’s out of town and the server goes down.
They might have to turn on/off some lights using the buttons on the smart switch, yes. Or maybe lose access to Jellyfin for a while. But on whole things have been pretty reliable.
