Hitler probably helped an old lady cross the street once too. Terrible people or those supporting authoritarian ideologies can still do nice things. They pet dogs and eat ice cream too.

A fantasy on my part of course but wouldn't it be instructive for folk to have to present their arguments as why they decide to downvote a comment?
It was most likely downvoted because comparing people from Paris Commune with Adolf Hitler is a ridiculous comparison.
That wasn't what was being compared though
Eh who cares. I view it this way: downvotes mean I’m right, up-votes mean people agree with me. :)
