As a statistician, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention bootstrapping - theoretically distinct, but another demonstration of the power of randomization techniques.
The power of bootstrapping is pretty insane really, I'm still impressed by the performance of random forests, and even bootstrapped confidence intervals are really cool.
