Anthropic has amazing models. But they should really stop commenting on software practices. Most of what they say seem out of touch with what's happening in software shops. A lot of it seems hype driven. And the entire message looks to be written by AI.

I disagree. Many of us have an emotional attachment to the way we do things and have difficulty letting go. Anthropic is showing a different way of doing things. And I am not going to judge them too harshly if the final output is good. I use Claude Code every day. And it is good. Ahead of the pack.

  • You're failing to differentiate what Claude Code means here. The models, no one argues that they're not good. If you mean Claude code the local agent, there are now dozens of smaller, faster, lighter harnesses that do everything the Claude tui does and more.

Yes, this is a different way of doing things, and it's clearly working for them, but there is no direct line between that and a "ahead of the pack" product.

  • I don't understand saying you have an emotional attachment to doing something. Normally you do things in a certain way because it is functional and works. What we're seeing from these LLM companies is them proposing new methods of working which highlights insane ways of "working" (they don't "work") since they're reliant on an LLM, which is just self-marketing.

Given the internal models that they have access to, I'm more worried about software companies being out of touch with the next generation of models will enable. Anecdotally I've seen that it takes a while for an organization to adjust to new LLM capabilities, even if everyone had access.

It’s all marketing nonsense. Along with the “AI is dangerous” and “we’re all going to lose our jobs” messaging they do, it’s just to sell the services.
