I predict a shift towards antialiasing being less desirable as DPI->inf. In my experience, disabling antialiasing dramatically improves sharpness and readability of small font sizes on modern 4K+ monitors, along with reducing eye strain and surprising bystanders.
I just tried it on my 5K monitor. I can immediately tell the difference and no, I hated the effect on text without antialiasing. Furthermore I just don’t think DPI->Inf. My 2014 iMac has the same DPI as my modern desktop.
