might be a mixed bag but when safety of vehicles is involved, the japanese and germans are very good. Observe cars driving almost anywhere in southern europe and you will instantly spot the difference.

I am from Germany, and we did have the exact same failure case I expect happened here in 2002. In my opinion thinking you are good at safety is how being bad at safety starts.
