For OpenWRT, AsusWRT etc, I believe they use dropbear ssh by default instead of OpenSSH, which apparently isn't affected?

Yes, correct for OpenWrt. OpenWrt defaults to dropbear for both server and client. However, more advanced users may optionally choose to replace it with OpenSSH, or install OpenSSH side-by-side, to gain additional features of OpenSSH.
I've just tried with my AsusWRT (3.0.0.4.386_69196) and didn't get it to work
gregor@krekrm3 ~ % ssh root@192.168.1.1 root@192.168.1.1's password: Permission denied, please try again. root@192.168.1.1's password: Permission denied, please try again. root@192.168.1.1's password: Connection closed by 192.168.1.1 port 22
Dropbear added the 100 character password limit in 2019.77, so earlier versions might be susceptible.
Nope, they are OK.
