I feel you are committing a Goomba fallacy?
The author of this article works for METR and not Anthropic, their whole job is supposed to be providing independent oversight on the labs. They are definitely not in the "this is incredible" crowd, they are the ones asking for development and deployment to slow down.
there's considerable overlap between the "we need to slow down" crowd and the "this is amazing crowd". The Yudkowsky/rationalist crowd are still Utopianists, they just think we need to be careful how we achieve it.
