Ask HN: Why did VS Code Marketplace remove download extension from Resources?

Until very recently you could click Download Extension directly to get a .vsix from any listing on https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/vscode under "Resources" and install it via: https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/editor/extension-marketplace#_install-from-a-vsix
However this option is no longer there. Does anyone here or at Microsoft know why?
As a temporary workaround, I found this script. It is obviously not an ideal solution : https://github.com/mjmirza/Download-VSIX-From-Visual-Studio-...
Same issue for me and I can't find anyone else discussing this online. How can we download vsix now ? I need to install an extension on an offline datacenter
